FAI JUNIOR CUP - Second Round.
Rovers couldn’t have asked for a better start. Two goals within the first 3 minutes.
The first from a free kick with Conor Tourish nicking in a putting in the net.
The second from play seen Zach Gorman get the ball in the box and finish well.
After that Rathmullan got settled in but wasn’t until 26 minutes that they got their first real chance and it came from a corner, which was delivered into the box, eventually getting to Conor Temple who put it in the net.
Just before the break Rathmullan came close following a long ball not being dealt with by Rovers defense allowing a 1 on 1 with the Rovers keeper Blake Forkan who did well to come out and close the angle preventing the goal.
2-1 to Rovers at halftime
It was 61 minutes before the first real chance of second half came from a free kick for Rathmullan Conor Temple got on it but put it over the bar.
70 minutes a throw from Zach Gorman got to Conor Tourish who chested turned and shot over the bar.
Aside from that there was very little chances to threaten either goal.
It’s Rovers who advance seeing the game out 2-1.
