FINN TRAVEL DIVISION THREE

In the wintry conditions of Ballyshannon, Letterkenny Rovers traveled to face table-toppers Erne Wanderers, emerging victorious with a commanding 3-0 win.

The first half showcased a solid performance from Letterkenny Rovers, with early chances from Jason Doherty, Jordan Nugent, and Jonnie Robb. It was Nugent who broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, capitalizing on a beautiful run and assist from Doherty to slot the ball past the Wanderers' keeper.

Despite Wanderers' efforts, including a threatening free-kick towards the end of the half, Rovers' goalkeeper Blake Forkan remained resolute, denying any equalizers.

The second half saw Rovers persistently pressing for a second goal, with Wanderers' keeper kept busy, particularly denying Robb and Nugent in the 53rd and 57th minutes respectively. However, Nugent found the back of the net again in the 63rd minute, courtesy of another assist from Doherty.

Erne Wanderers fought back fiercely, but Rovers sealed the victory with a clinical finish from Henry Welles in the 71st minute assisted by Nugent. A missed penalty opportunity for Nugent in the 72nd minute kept the scoreline at 3-0.

Despite the physical battle, Rovers displayed resilience to secure a notable away win against a formidable opponent. However, the victory was overshadowed by a concerning injury to full-back Pavel Shevanink in the dying moments of the game. Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery.

Overall, it was a dominant display from Letterkenny Rovers, keeping themselves in the fight at the top of the table.
