Letterkenny Rovers and Bonagee Utd played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Leckview Astro Park on Friday evening.
The weather god's were not kind as the game was played in a continuous downpour and credit must be given to both sides who played out an entertaining encounter.
It was the visitors who made an early breakthrough when Michael Funston neatly took possession of a cross from the left before firing an angled shot past Mark Anthony McGinley in the home goal.
Rovers though responded quick and Gareth Doherty forced a good stop from Oisin Cannon while Gabby Aduaka shot narrowly over before they deservedly drew level on 21 minutes when Tim Callaghan reacted quickest and netted from close range after an Aduaka looping header came back off the bar.
Lee McMonagle forced a good stop from McGinley before Rovers then took the lead on 41 minutes when Gareth Doherty's teasing corner caused confusion in the box which saw Stephen Black head past his own keeper under pressure from Callaghan.
Bonagee though responded well and were level just before the break when Tony McNamee with a fine vollied effort rifled home with match referee John Coll not entertaining the home shouts for a foul on Doherty in the build-up to the goal.
It was the home side though who were on the front foot for much of the second half and came close on three occasions while title chasing Bonagee could not break down a sturdy Rovers defence well marshalled by Conor Tourish.
