Letterkenny Rovers maintained their 4 point lead at the top of  League Two with a 6-0 win over Deele Harps at a sunkissed Leckview Park on Sunday afternoon.

The tone was set from the outset with a strong opening 20 minutes setting the pattern  for the game as Rovers started very brightly dominating exchanges against a much weakened Deele side and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring after just 6 minutes when the lively Jack Dwyer struck a shot from distance which flew past visiting custodian David Arthur.

Deele though forced home goalkeeper Blake Forkan into a fine save from a trademark Jordy Duffy effort on 15 but it as Rovers who dominated from then on with Luke Parke just failing to convert a good move involving Ronan Curran and Dwyer on 18 minutes before they did double the lead on 20 minutes when Dwyer netted after an incisive Ronan Curran throughball.

Caolan McConnell then finished with a fine left footed effort just after the half hour mark before Rovers goalkeeper Forkan was forced off with a rib injury shortly after denying Sean  McGowan with a cracking stop.

Deele did try and pressurise stand-in keeper Dylan Doogan but to no avail as he was well protected by his defence but any hopes of a Deele comeback were dashed as  a fine finish from Patrik Gahir on 42 and a well worked team goal culminating with an excellent Nathan Bonner  finish saw Rovers go in 5-0 at the halftime break.

The second half turned into quite a tedious affair on an extremely hot afternoon and Rovers added the coup de grace  to their lead through James Kernan who rifled home from 12 yards on 62 minutes.

Rovers back in action in a fortnight when making the trip to play Letterbarrow Celtic.
