Weekending 4th February 2024

SFAI U14s Last 32 Letterkenny Rovers 2 - 0 Clonmel Town

Sunday 4th February 2024.

It was very difficult conditions for both sides at Leckview though it did not really offer any advantage to either side as it blew across the pitch.

Rovers had the better of the chances though Clonmel Towns threat was on the counter attack and the crated a few good breaks particularly in the first half.

Rovers had plenty of good chances in the first half from Denzel Akpo, Jack O'Donnell, Colm OgBreathnach, Sean Gallagher and Aki Alleyne, only to be stopped by a very good Clonmel keeper.

The first half it ended 0-0 and Rovers continued to pressure in search of the opening goal as they started the second half.

However it was until the 64th minute with a great strike from Sean Gallagher slipped unto the crossbar giving Rovers the lead.

Clomel fought back quickly and had a great chance from a free kick on the left of the field that crossed the goal going just wide of the right post.

However Rovers sealed the game with a bursting run by Aki as he pushed forward and was one on one with the keeper, his shot was blocked by the Clonmel keeper who had an outstanding game, but the ball fell into the path of Colm Og who wasn't going to miss and stuck it in the net.

Rovers held on for the dying few minutes and deservedly won 2-0 on the day.

Well done lads and good luck in the final 16!!.
