Letterkenny Rovers U14 girls defeat Lagan harps 2 - 1 on 10th May 2024

U14 Girls
Letterkenny Rovers 2 Lagan Harps 1

With the good weather and lovely evening both teams put on the entertainment for the crowd in Leckview. On 11 mins Faye Casburn scored for Letterkenny Rovers with a shot from wide on the right after a through ball by Aisling McGinley. Amy Moore set up Savannah Keys who scored with a strong shot from wide on the left. Rovers almost got a third when Aisling McGinley broke through but Ciara Cullen saved well. Lagan was also dangerous going forward and almost grabbed a goal back before halftime when Sinead Mc Loughlin broke through after a great run, but Ciara McDaid got across with a great tackle. Lagan kept the pressure on in the second half and were rewarded for the efforts on 46 mins when Emily Mc Mahon got onto a corner to score from close range.
Both defences were solid thoughout the game and back up with outstanding displays of goalkeeping by Caithlin McBrearty for Rovers and Ciara Cullen for Lagan. Amy Moore was outstanding for Rovers with Amy Lateff the stand out player for Lagan.

U14 PREMIER DIVISION

Letterkenny Rovers 2 - 2 Bonagee United

It was a  great battle between local sides at the Aura under warm conditions for both teams. Rovers will definitely feel they had the upper hand for large parts of the game as they pressed high and hard containing Bonagee while they created many good chances.

The first goal went Rovers way on 18th minute when Adhamhnan Gibson reacted quickly to a ricochet directing towards goal.

Then minutes later it was Colm OgBreathnach who reacted quick to an error in Bonagee defense and pounced on the chance to score quickly.

The half ended 2-0 to Letterkenny Rovers though they knew it was far from over.

The second half Rovers continued to push for a third, and the Bonagee threat from counter attacks continued to cause problems with Cathal Doherty, Charlie Bonner and Shay McCauley.  Bonagee were rewarded for their efforts on the 61st minute when Cathal Doherty found himself with a little space and scored. Bonagee got a boost needed from that to look for a second and Doherty once again on the receiving end of a cross scored, levelling the game just before the final whistle.

A good contest between both sides.
