Letterkenny Rovers and Bonagee United shared the spoils in a hard-fought top-of-the-table clash at Leckview Park, where the strong wind played a major part in a tense and even contest. Rovers began the day two points clear of their rivals, and by full time, nothing could separate the sides after a dramatic equaliser late on.

Both teams had early sights of goal, with Bonagee’s Shay Maloney testing Mark Anthony McGinley in the opening minutes before Zach Gorman’s dangerous free kick had to be scrambled clear at the other end. Chances were scarce, but it was Bonagee who drew first blood on the half hour. Maloney’s clever flick sent Michael Doherty through, and his header came down off the crossbar and over the line to make it 1–0.
Rovers responded strongly, and moments before the break Gorman levelled in spectacular style, his thunderous strike from distance finding the top corner and giving Andrew Nicholls no chance.

Bonagee regained the lead on the hour when substitute Matthew McLaughlin made an instant impact, getting the decisive touch after Rovers failed to clear a dangerous delivery. The game opened up from there, with both teams pressing — Rovers chasing the equaliser with Delap, McNamee, MyGlynn threatening, while Bonagee’s Adam Rodgers and Adrian Brennan remained a threat on the counter.

With time running out, Rovers’ persistence paid off. In the 87th minute, Gorman’s strike was saved, Lee McMonagle’s header struck the bar, and Shane McNamee reacted quickest to nod home the rebound, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
The draw means Rovers with a game in hand hold a two-point advantage at the summit and face Kildrum Tigers in a midweek clash at Leckview park on Wednesday 15th April 7:30pm kick-off.
