Letterkenny Rovers 1–3 Cockhill Celtic
Letterkenny Rovers bowed out of the FAI Junior Cup in Round 3 after a 3–1 defeat to Cockhill Celtic, despite creating a host of good chances at Leckview Park. Cockhill struck twice in the first half through Adam Duffy and Tiernan Ruddy, but Rovers responded strongly after the break and pinned the visitors back for long spells.
The pressure told on 69 minutes when Simon McGlynn crossed from the left, Billy Banda cleverly stepped over it and Zach Gorman finished well to give Rovers a deserved lifeline. Rovers continued to push, with further opportunities for Shane McNamee, Banda and McGlynn, but Cockhill broke away to add a third in additional time, punishing a defensive mistake and sealing their place in the next round.
