The match began with a setback for Letterkenny when they lost their keeper, Blake Forkan, to a serious injury after 28 minutes. This unfortunate incident saw the introduction of young Davin Blake, making his debut under intense circumstances. We wish Blake Forkan a speedy recovery.

McMonagle opened the scoring in the first half, giving Letterkenny a 1-0 lead at halftime. The second half saw Paul Boyle equalise for Keadue, but a foul on McMonagle by Matthew Smith resulted in Smith's second yellow card and a penalty, which McMonagle converted to make it 2-1.

Despite being down to ten men, Keadue's Peter McGee scored twice in quick succession, putting them ahead 3-2 with minutes to go. Letterkenny equalised through Aidrian Delap's volley from a corner, and in the final minute, McMonagle superbly headed in the winning goal.

The match, full of dramatic twists and turns, ended with Letterkenny Rovers celebrating their victory as the 2024 Brian McCormick Cup champions.
