FOYLE CUP DAY FIVE

U8 BOYS 

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 3-1 Foyle Harps
Rovers went into this game with a cool head. After the low of yesterday's 3-2 defeat the young lads showed wise heads and got the ball down and did what they do best. In very impressive form in his new position of left wing, Junior Hyde adorned the new nickname of the Bulldozer. He was unstoppable charging through midfield. His endless running earning him 2 very well taken goals. 2 long throws from Cillian Martin found their way into the box and Junior showed great feet to dig the ball out and dispatch into the net twice.
Foyle Harps were able to nick a goal back before Oscar McNulty added to his tally with a well taken goal. Again quick feet around 2 defenders and pushed the ball onto to his right foot and passed it into the bottom corner.

3-1 is how it ended and Rovers marched on to their last game.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 4-1 Maiden City
Another commanding performance with the young team playing with wise heads. Rovers dominated the game again allowing the opposition little possession and only a few goal chances. Cillian Martin was stellar in defence playing with great confidence. He controlled the game and set Rovers on the game plenty of times. Finn Grieve played the captains role well in midfield. He was fierce in the tackles and moved the ball well when needed, popping up with 2 assists.
Oscar McNulty put in another fine performance scoring all 4 goals in this game.
After moving from the left wing in game three it is hard to argue against Oscar being the go to striker for this magnificent young team. Heorhii and Yaroslav were very technical on the right wing and won their battles well. Both were unlucky not to score today going close on a few occasions.

There is nothing but high praise from their coaches for this set of players. Having bowed out of the chance to win the plate yesterday, the players showed enormous heart to end the week on a positive note. The future is certainly bright for this set of talented players.

U9 ROVERS GIRLS

Letterkenny Rovers 1 – 1 Phoenix Academy

Rovers win on penalties

What. A. Final. It had everything — fearless tackles, huge heart, a saved penalty… even a bit of hair‑pulling drama.

Our girls battled like warriors from the first whistle, creating chance after chance but struggling to find that finishing touch.

Phoenix struck first when a loose ball dropped into danger. Our keeper got a hand to it, but the power carried it over the line.

But Cliodhna Connolly wasn’t having it. She pounced on a dropped ball, burst through and buried the equaliser like a player on a mission.

In the dying moments, Phoenix won a penalty — but Aurora Bowden stood tall, saved it, and the defence cleared the danger.

1–1 at full time. Straight into a shootout.

It took 32 penalties to separate the teams — surely Foyle Cup history. Hearts were in mouths. Poppy Oliver, Cliodhna Connolly, Darcey O’Donnell and Stefania Perri all converted for Rovers, and Aurora Bowden was ice‑cold facing sixteen opposition penalties.

What a way to finish a week of growth, grit, development and memories that will last a lifetime. They did their club, their parents, their coaches, and most importantly themselves — unbelievably proud.

The future of girls football at this club is glowing bright with these little warriors leading the way.

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders 1-1 Maiden City Soccer Colts
Crusaders win on penalties

The Crusaders booked their place in the Foyle Cup Globe Final after showing incredible resilience and determination against a well-drilled Maiden City side.

An early lapse in concentration from a Maiden City corner saw the Crusaders fall behind, but the response from the boys was outstanding. They fought for every loose ball, competed for every second ball and never stopped believing. Captain Joshua Oridota came close on several occasions, but with time running out it looked as though the opportunity had slipped away.

With only minutes remaining, Joshua produced a beautiful delivery into the box where Conor O’Hanlon met it first time with a stunning volley to level the game and send it to penalties.

The shootout belonged to Chulainn Rooney-Fryers, who delivered one of the moments of the tournament by producing an incredible four penalty saves, sending the Crusaders into the final in dramatic fashion.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders 4-1 Swilly Rovers

With confidence soaring from the semi-final victory, the Crusaders carried that momentum into the final against familiar opponents Swilly Rovers.

The boys made the perfect start through a brilliant finish from Bobby McMenimen before continuing to pile on the pressure. A fierce strike from Joshua Oridota crashed off the woodwork, with Reon Moore reacting quickest to fire home the rebound and give the Crusaders a deserved 2-0 lead at half-time.

Swilly remained dangerous throughout, but Sennan McCloskey and Joshua Agunbiade were immense at the heart of the defence, keeping every threat under control.

The Crusaders continued to play with confidence and quality, with Conor O’Hanlon grabbing his second crucial goal of the day before Adriel Boas Brito showed brilliant feet inside the box to calmly slot home the fourth. Swilly managed a late consolation, but the final whistle sparked scenes of celebration as the Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders were crowned 2026 Foyle Cup Globe Champions.

After a week of facing some of the tournament’s strongest academy sides, learning from every game and growing together as a team, the boys showed unbelievable character to finish the competition in style. A fully deserved championship and a week that everyone involved with Letterkenny Rovers will remember with immense pride.

U10 ROVERS BOYS

Letterkenny Rovers 0 - 1 Maghera Strollers

It was a tight affair in our last game of the week with only 1 goal separating the teams. Our boys gave it their all all week and represented the club incredibly. As always they had a great week with memories made and friendships strengthened. They finished a respectable 43rd out of 120. They finished off the week with a well deserved Mc Donalds. Thanks to all the Parents who supported us throughout the week.

U11 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Sion Swifts 0 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers

A tense semi final for the boys in Strabane. In a scrappy affair chances were few and far between with Sion having the best of the 1st half with only the post stopping them going ahead.

The second half was similar however Rovers started to take control as the half progressed . The match was decided 5 minutes from time when Rovers one a free 25 yards from goal. Shay McLaughlin stepped to drive the ball into the net much to the delight of the Rovers supporters.

Sion couldn't respond and the boys seen the game out to reach the Shield Final.

David Vorinin and Shay McLaughlin stood out in this one.

Game 2

Don Boscos 0 - 2 Letterkenny Rovers

The boys faced a much fancied Don Bosco in front of a huge crowd in the Shield Final.

The boys lifted a trophy at last years Foyle Cup and were determined to do the same again. They started really well and got their trademark passing game going early on. Zac Doherty and Aidan McCann were dominant in midfield with Shay McLaughlin and Cody McGarrigle were causing big problems for the Boscos defence. The pressure told five minutes in when Zac and Aidan combined to put Cody through to open the scoring with a fine finish. The boys continued to press and created more chances with Brandon Nlovu heading over the bar from a corner and Cillian McCauley firing just wide. Don Boscos looked dangerous from set plays and dispite a few scares the boys held firm with David Vorinin excelling at the back.

The second half was an exciting affair with boy teams playing good football but it was Rovers who always looked the more dangerous. Midway through the half Shay McLaughlin drove forward and sent Cody McGarrigle through on goal. Cody made no mistake and finished coolly to make it 2 - 0. Don Bosco tried to respond and again threatened from set pieces but the boys held firm to lift the Cup.

A great match which both teams deserving credit for the football played.

Cody McGarrigle and David Vorinin stood out however the whole team were excellent throughout.

After a tough start to the week, Letterkenny Rovers bounced back in superb fashion to top their group and finish the tournament as champions! 

A 4-1 victory over Clooney Colts in the final group game secured first place and ensured the trophy was coming home. The boys showed great resilience, character and teamwork throughout the tournament, responding brilliantly after a difficult opening to the week

Letterkenny Rovers 1–4 Cliftonville

Rovers brought their Foyle Cup campaign to a close in glorious sunshine at Limavady this afternoon, taking on a strong Cliftonville side.

With the team's positions decided by a spin-the-wheel generator, it made for a fun and memorable final day of the tournament, with everyone embracing the challenge.

The final scoreline didn't reflect the effort and quality of the performance from the lads. James McCormick grabbed Rovers' goal in style, scoring directly from a free kick.

It has been a fantastic week for the boys, competing against top-quality opposition and gaining invaluable experience throughout the tournament. They now enjoy a well-earned break before attention turns back to the league campaign.

A huge thank you to all the parents who supported the team throughout the week, provided transport, and helped make the tournament such a success. Special thanks also to Aisling and Margaret, who made sure the boys had fresh jerseys ready every day. Your support is greatly appreciated.

U14 COLTS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers Colts 0 – 5 Belfast Celtic

A tough morning for the Colts, who came into their first game still carrying the weight of Thursday’s heavy defeat. The boys were slow out of the blocks, conceding early from a corner, and the goal seemed to knock the wind out of them. Momentum swung sharply, and Celtic took full advantage.

Rovers battled in spells, trying to regain a foothold, but couldn’t quite dig deep enough to turn the tide. It was a harsh reminder of what happens when you don’t start fast, stay switched on, and give the full 100% from the first whistle.

The mood at lunch was understandably somber — a quiet reset, a chance to regroup, and a moment to remind themselves of the standards expectes. With heads cleared and pride on the line, the boys prepared for their afternoon fixture.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers Colts 4 – 1 Curragh

The afternoon brought a completely different Rovers side — sharper, hungrier, and determined to put things right. From the first minute they pressed with intent, showing fight against a well‑drilled Curragh team. Every challenge was met, every call contested, and the boys looked the stronger outfit throughout.

Bailey Doherty broke the deadlock, reacting quickest to a loose second ball and finishing calmly.

Filip Blaszczok doubled the lead soon after, his trademark pace proving impossible to contain. Confidence surged, and Jopello Adeyemi added a stunning long‑range strike from the right side of the pitch.

Filip then secured his brace, rounding off a brilliant team performance and putting Rovers firmly in control. Curragh pushed back late on, winning a penalty they couldn’t convert, and grabbing a consolation in the dying moments to deny the clean sheet — but it didn’t take away from the response the boys delivered.

They showed character, pride, and resilience, redeeming themselves fully after the morning setback. A day of two halves, and a reminder of what this team can be when they turn up with purpose.

Tomorrow brings the final match of the week — one last chance to finish strong and leave everything on the pitch.

FOYLE CUP DAY FOUR

U8 BOYS 

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 5 - 1 Omagh Town Colts

A close battle in the first half was settled in the second with Rovers displaying some fine footballing talent. Rovers went 1 up when a through ball from Junior Hyde was latched onto by Yaroslav Oliinyk. Running to the left under pressure he poke the ball home right footed into the bottom corner. Oscar McNulty made it 2-0 before the break, finishing well after great support play from his team.

Omagh pulled one back in the second half before Oscar added 3 more goals to pull Rovers way out in front. Rovers then combined well ending in Oscar lobbing the ball through to Heorhii Kukhalashvili who finished impressively with a volley.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 2 - 3 Castlecaulfield Youth

In a very tense affair Rovers slumped to their second defeat and unfortunately ended their hunt for the Foyle Plate. Lapses in concentration allowed a well organised opponent to snatch the lead. After pulling a goal back by the impressive Yuroslav again, Rovers were undone by pressure from the opposition which allowed them to slip through for their second. When Castlecaulfield scored a lucky third when the ball bounced off the attacker over Joe in goals, the Rovers heads dipped. Under intense pressure and a cauldron of noise Rovers pressed and pressed.

Long balls went dead and shots came off the post. The opposition keeper impressed and the defence was solid. Oscar was able to work his way through midfield and rifle a shot into the top corner bring the game to 3-2. As belief crept back in Rovers tried with every ounce of energy they had, even having a shot cleared off the line. Unfortunately it was not to be and the game ended 3-2.

A special mention today goes to Junior Hyde who is developing into a fine talent. His strength in defence and midfield combined with his silky feet is seeing him press forward and creating more opportujities for Rovers. Adam Keenan was very good in goals today and was quick off his line to clear danger a number of times. Luca McGee might be newish to soccer coming from a very well versed gaelic background but he put himself about very well and won many battles in midfield

U9 GIRLS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 0 - 1 Greencastle FC

It just wasn’t to be for the girls today, bringing an end to their hunt for silverware after what has been an absolutely outstanding week of football. They’ve played with heart, skill, and maturity far beyond their years, and today was no different.

A brief lapse on the wing gave Greencastle the space to strike from distance. Aurora reacted brilliantly and got a hand to it, but the shot had just enough on it to sneak over the line. A tough moment, but one the girls met with real character.

From that point on, Rovers took control. They pushed forward with intent, kept the ball superbly, and created wave after wave of pressure. The effort, the bravery, the willingness to keep going — it was everything you’d want to see. On another day, one of those chances finds the net.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 0 – 0 Ballymoney Youth Academy(2 – 0 Rovers on penalties)

No time to dwell — straight into game two, and the girls showed exactly who they are. They reset, refocused, and delivered another dominant performance against a strong Ballymoney side.

Stephani Perri was immense in midfield, shutting down Ballymoney’s key player and giving Rovers control of the centre of the pitch. The girls created chances again, but Ballymoney defended deep and crowded their box, making that final touch difficult.

With nothing between the teams, it went to penalties. Up stepped Poppy, Layla, Stephania and Laoise — calm, confident, and clinical, scoring 3
2 out of 4. Aurora then finished the job, standing tall and guarding the goal from ever single Ballymoney penalty. A brilliant, composed shootout from the whole group.

We genuinely couldn’t be prouder. These girls fought for every ball, played brave football all week, and represented Letterkenny Rovers with class, determination, and togetherness. They’ve grown massively, learned loads, and shown they’re a force to be reckoned with. Their future is incredibly bright.

U9 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 5–0 Foyle Harps FC Youth

The Rovers got off to a brilliant start and maintained their strong performance right through the game. A fantastic team effort saw goals from Ghulerm (2), Kell, Antoni, and Caden.

Letterkenny Rovers 0–0 Dergview FC
Dergview FC won 4–1 on penalties.

The Rovers produced an excellent performance over the 30 minutes, creating plenty of chances and unfortunately missing three great opportunities to win the game.

The match went to the lottery of penalties, where Dergview came out on top. On another day, the result could easily have gone our way, but the effort, determination and football on display deserved so much more.

U9 CRUSADERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders 2–0 Phoenix Athletic Colts

The first game saw the lads combine brilliantly in both attack and defence, leaving nothing to chance. Bobby McMenimen was exceptional down the left wing, while Reon Moore was outstanding on the right throughout the game. It was Reon who provided both assists, picking out Conan Campbell on each occasion as Conan calmly finished to secure a deserved brace.

The Crusaders never looked under pressure thanks to a superb spine through the team. Joshua Oridota controlled the midfield, while Jay Agunbiade and Sennan McCloskey stood firm at the back to ensure the clean sheet was never in doubt. Behind them, Chulainn Rooney-Fryers was exceptional between the posts, commanding his area with confidence and producing a composed display whenever called upon to preserve the shutout. A composed and commanding performance from start to finish saw the boys deservedly run out 2-0 winners.

Game 2

St Patricks Castlederg 0 - 3 Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders

The second match saw the boys raise the bar even further. Bobby McMenimen grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck with relentless turnovers, silky footwork and superb link-up play. On the opposite flank, Jacob Horvat and Reon Moore combined brilliantly to stretch the opposition and create chance after chance.

Leading the line, Conor O’Hanlon was outstanding with his pressing, movement and hold-up play. He deservedly got on the scoresheet and was unlucky not to add another after rattling the crossbar with a superb long-range strike. Conan Campbell continued his fine goalscoring form by finding the net once again before Bobby capped off his excellent display with a well-earned goal of his own. Every goal came through patient, intelligent build-up play, highlighting just how well the boys worked together throughout. At the other end, Chulainn Rooney-Fryers completed another exceptional performance in goal, showing great concentration and confidence to record his second clean sheet of the day.

A 3-0 victory completed a perfect day, with two wins, five goals scored, none conceded and, most importantly, a return to the confident football this group is capable of producing.

The results provide exactly the bounce the Crusaders needed heading into tomorrow’s semi-final against Maiden City. After showing resilience all week against top-class opposition, the boys have earned their opportunity and will head into finals day full of confidence and ready to give everything once again.

U10 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 0-4 Ballymoney Youth Academy
Tough opening game for Rovers against a strong Ballymoney team. Boys battled hard until the final whistle.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 2-0 Quigley Point Swifts
The boys bounced back to close out the day with a solid display all over the pitch. Goals came from Shaun Crossan and the ever dependable Oscar Brzdak.

U11 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 3 - 0 Clonduff FC 

The boys moved to Stabane's Melvin Sports complex and took time to adjust to the tighter AstroTurf pitches. Cody McGarrigle and Brandon Ndlovu has the best chances in a scrappy first half.

The second half started the same way but Rovers gradually started to string passes together and got their reward midway through the half when Lopsy Adeyemi headed home from close range. Goals from Cody McGarrigle and Vlad Peresiechnyl followed as the boys piled forward late on.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 2 - 2 Oxford Stars 
(ROVER win 4-3 on pens)

Rovers came out on top in a roll coaster quarterfinal of the Shield. The boys went behind against the run of play early on after a defensive mixup allowed Oxford to score This unsettled a number of the boys and despite their dominance created very few clear chances in the first half .
The boys were dealt a further blow just after half time win Oxford were awarded a penalty for a hand ball which they converted to make it 2-0. Oxford frustrated the boys after this and to their credit defended very well and slowed the game down when they could. A tactical change helped the boys and with 4 minutes left Shay McLaughlin latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and guided the it into the corner of the net.

Rovers rallied and with a minute left the excellent Vlad Peresiechnyl poked home the equaliser after good work from Cody and Shay to spark wild celebrations from the Rovers Fans.

Penalties decided the match with Shay, Zac, Cody holding their nerve to score before Jake Devlin coolly slotted home the winning penalty to put Rovers into the Semi Final tomorrow morning Shay McLaughlin and Cody McGarrigle stood out alongside the impressive Vlad Peresiechnyl whose introduction changed the game

U11 CRUSADERS BOYS

Game 1

Portstewart FC Colts 0 - 1 Letterkenny Crusaders

Letterkenny Crusaders produced two determined performances on Day 4 of the Foyle Cup to progress further in the competition.

In their first outing they faced Portstewart and controlled the game from the outset. Solid throughout, the Crusaders got the decisive moment when Aaron Sibanda delivered a dangerous corner and Anuola Dada rose highest to head home the winner. Fionn Maguire, James Gallagher, Anuola Dada and Aaron Sibanda all stood out as Letterkenny ran out 1-0 winners.

The quarter-final against Dungannon proved a tougher test. Dungannon struck early, but Letterkenny responded before the break when James Gallagher threaded an excellent ball through for Ryan McLaughlin to finish. After the interval Dungannon regained the lead and looked the stronger side for long periods. Anuola Dada’s late equaliser forced the tie to penalties, where Letterkenny held their nerve. Matthew McDevitt converted the winning spot-kick to send the Crusaders through.

Two hard-fought victories keep Letterkenny’s Foyle Cup campaign firmly on track.

Game 2

Letterkenny Crusaders 2–2 Dungannon

(Letterkenny won 5–4 on penalties)

Letterkenny Crusaders showed tremendous character to overcome Dungannon on penalties and secure their place in the next stage of the Foyle Cup.

Dungannon made the brighter start and took an early lead, but the Crusaders responded well before half-time. James Gallagher played a superb through ball to Ryan McLaughlin, who finished confidently to level the scores.

Dungannon regained the lead after the break and looked the stronger side for much of the second half. However, Letterkenny refused to give in and Anuola Dada grabbed a late equaliser to send the match to a penalty shootout.

The Crusaders held their nerve from the spot, with Matthew McDevitt calmly converting the winning penalty to seal a memorable victory and keep Letterkenny's Foyle Cup journey alive.

U12 9v9

Game 1

Raphoe Town 0 - 5 Letterkenny Rovers

After a tough few days, Letterkenny Rovers got back to winning ways with an impressive 5–0 victory over Raphoe at The Melvin Centre in Strabane.

Rovers produced a confident display from start to finish, creating plenty of chances and taking control of the game. David Olaniyan and Caleb Bomah both scored twice, while Ryan Carey also found the net to complete an excellent team performance.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 4–0 Strabane Colts

Letterkenny Rovers carried their momentum into their second game of the day with another excellent performance, defeating Strabane Colts 4–0.

The boys once again showed great quality all over the pitch, with David Olaniyan continuing his fine goalscoring form by adding another two goals. Caleb Bomah and Rhys Lynch also got on the scoresheet to round off another convincing victory.

It was another superb all-round display from the squad, capping off a perfect day with two clean sheets and nine goals scored. Rovers return to Strabane tomorrow afternoon, where they have a bye in their first fixture before taking on Clooney Colts in their final group game.

U12 11v11

U14 ROVERS BOYS

Letterkenny Rovers 0–3 Bonagee

Rovers faced local rivals Bonagee at Leckview today and came up against a very strong side featuring several National League players.

After a demanding week of football, the schedule appeared to take its toll on the Rovers boys. With Bonagee benefiting from a rest day yesterday, they looked the fresher side from the outset.

Bonagee made the perfect start, opening the scoring in the first minute before adding a second after 15 minutes. Rovers responded well after the break, enjoying their best spell of the game and pushing hard to find a way back into the contest. However, determined last-ditch defending denied them a deserved goal.

As Rovers committed players forward in search of a breakthrough, Bonagee sealed the victory with a third goal on the counter-attack late in the game.

Despite the result, the boys continue to gain invaluable experience by testing themselves against top-quality opposition throughout the week. Those lessons will stand to them as they continue their development.

U14 COLTS BOYS

Letterkenny Rovers Colts 0 – 4 Altrincham FC

A tough afternoon for the Colts, as our trail for silverware came to an abrupt halt against a very strong Altrincham academy side who made the trip over from Manchester.

From the first whistle, Rovers were under real pressure from a polished, well‑drilled outfit. Every ball was a battle, every mistake was punished, and the boys had to dig deep from the get‑go.

An unmarked runner in the box made it 1–0, a soft penalty doubled their lead, and a reshuffle in our defensive line unfortunately opened the door for goals three and four in quick succession.

But here’s the part that matters: the lads never dropped their heads. They fought for every ball, they kept working, they kept believing, and they showed the kind of character that reflects well on every one of us. Effort, attitude, and togetherness were never in doubt.

Hard lessons learned today. Some days things fall for us, some days they don’t — that’s football, and that’s how players grow.

FOYLE CUP DAY THREE

U8 BOYS

Game 1

Tummery Athletic 0 - 3 Letterkenny Rovers

A fine display by Rovers they commanded much of the game but allowed Tummery to be within touching for most of the contest. It was their bond and teamwork that saw the young team get the ball down and play well for large spells of the game. Rovers went 1-0 up when a fine cross swung in from the right and Oscar McNulty cooly finished at the back post. Oscar then doubled Rovers lead. Finn Grieve broke down an opposition move and Cillian Martin dance his way from midfield. He found Heorhii Kukhalashvili who one-touched to Oscar to finish calmly. 2-0, and thats how the game finished. Rovers saw the game out confidently. All players impressed, and the squad depth was prevalent as all players who came off the bench excelled in their roles.

Game 2

Dungannon Utd 3 - 4 Letterkenny Rovers
A blistering display from the youngest Rovers team in the competition which saw them come from behind on two occasions. In a nail-biting affair Rovers could well have been 2 or 3 up at half, however found themselves 2-1 to a well balanced Dungannon outfit. Oscar McNulty was immense in this contest grabbing all 4 goals for Rovers. A well worked move from midfield found Oscar and he finished from the edge of the box. His second was a long distance effort proving too much for the keeper, slipping underneath him into the net. Rovers pressing from midfield won them a free-kick from 20 yards out. After winning the free, Oscar stepped up and found the top corner to bring the contest to 3-3.
Rovers smelled blood and went for the winner. Team effort pressed the opposition midfield and the ball bounced towards McNulty, he waited for the ball to come down and hit the volley with power giving the keeper no chance. Captain Finn Grieve was brilliant in midfield while Cillian and Junior governed defence with authority. In particular though what really came to the fore today was how well the squad came together. When tactics were changed and players rolled off the bench, the team adapted and didnt put a foot wrong.
The U8s finished 2nd in the group winning 4 of the 5 games, and go onto compete in the Foyle Plate tomorrow.

U9 GIRLS

Letterkenny Rovers 1 – 0 Irvinestown Wanderers

A tense morning in the Brandywell as Rovers closed out their group campaign against a strong, physical Irvinestown side.

Rovers looked the better team throughout, with most of the battles fought in midfield. Anything that did break into the final third was quickly dealt with by a rock‑solid back line.

In the second half Rovers shifted into a more attacking shape and really turned the screw. Wave after wave of pressure created chances, with Irvinestown just about hanging on.

The breakthrough came from clever, composed play — sharp passing opened the space, Nessa Connolly slipped a perfectly weighted ball through, and Poppy Oliver let it run before getting on the end of it and calmly slotting home.

A special mention to Aurora Bowden who kept Irvinestown at bay, saving a bottom corner shot on the back of a quick counter attack, to secure the victory.

An outstanding group-stage performance from these girls in their first ever Foyle Cup. They topped the group, took 13 points from 5 games, scored 10 goals, and conceded just 1. Every girl contributed, every girl gave her best — we couldn’t be prouder.

U9 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Fivemiletown Utd 1 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers
Rovers started the game very well, 3 minutes in Kell Margey game scored his first goal of the tournament. In to the second half Fivemiletown were awarded a penalty which they scored to equalise. Rovers dominated the second half with a few good chances to score a second goal but it just wasn't meant to be.

Game 2

Coleraine FC Peacocks 3 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers

Up against a very strong team Letterkenny Rovers battled hard throughout. Coleraine scored first, followed by an equaliser from Kell Margey, his second goal of the day.
The second half was very intense with both teams attacking hard. Tackles were flying with 2 yellow cards shown to Rovers players Alan and Isaac. Eventually Coleraine scored a second and then a third goal late in the game.

U9 CRUSADERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Crusaders 0 - 1 Ballinamallard Utd

The boys continued what has been a tough week of football with a razor-tight contest against Ballinamallard. Every player battled from the first whistle to the last, with very little separating the two sides throughout.

The decisive moment came late in the second half when a disputed drop ball was awarded in the opposition’s favour. The resulting delivery into the box was allowed to bounce, leading to a chaotic goal that ultimately proved to be the difference. It was a game that deserved to end level, but like much of this week, the boys just haven’t had that vital bit of luck go their way in what is arguably one of the toughest groups in the age bracket.

Game 2

Maiden City Soccer 4 - 0 Letterkenny Crusaders 

The second game saw the Crusaders take on heavily fancied Maiden City. Letterkenny Rovers made a bright start, pouncing on early opportunities and showing real intent. Joshua and Bobby were particularly impressive in their positions, while Conan’s relentless pressing and intelligent hold-up play in the striker’s role allowed the team to gain valuable territory and keep the opposition under pressure.

As the first half wore on, Maiden City were forced into multiple changes as they looked to gain control, but the sides went into the break after a closely contested opening period.

In the second half, the opposition found another gear and began to dominate possession. Chulainn was kept busy between the posts, producing a series of spectacular saves to keep Rovers in the contest and give his teammates hope. Eventually, the sustained pressure told as Maiden City broke the deadlock before adding further goals, including a penalty, to secure a 4-0 victory.

While the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story of the effort shown throughout the day, the boys never stopped working against two very strong sides. The group stages are now behind us, and with a new dawn in the tournament tomorrow, the Crusaders will once again be ready to give everything in the next challenge.

U10 ROVERS BOYS

Letterkenny Rovers 0-1 Strabane Athletic       

Rovers boys gave a performance to be very proud of against eventual group winners Strabane. Rovers were a constant threat, working tirelessly as a team to create numerous chances. Strabane struck late on to take the 3 points. Special mention to Finn McMenamin for a top drawer performance on his 10th birthday.

Ballinamallard United Colts 0 - 2 Letterkenny Rovers 

Rovers rounded off their group campaign with a solid 2-0 win. Goals from Jude Lynch & Oscar Brzdak.

U11 ROVERS BOYS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 1 - 2 Moyola Youths 

Disappointing result for our 2015s in their first match of the day. A lack of focus early on allowed Moyola to dicate the early exchanges and an uncharacteristic lapse in concentration at the back allowed Moyala to score after 3 minutes. This was the first goal conceded by the team in the competition and it unsettled a number of the players. David Vorinin and Cody McGarrigle led the fight back as Rovers gradually got into the game. A handball gave Robers a lifeline and Zac Doherty made no mistake from the spot to level the match before halftime.

Rovers were dominant in the second half and created numerous chances early on. Lopsy Adeyemi had the best of these but the lads couldn't seem to find the finish required to go ahead. Moyola defended well and a long punt forward wasn't dealt with by the Rovers defence allowing Moyola to take the lead against the run of play. Rovers desperately tried to get back into the game but Moyola to their credit held on meaning the boys now needed to beat reigning champions Core to top the group.

David Vorinin and Cody McGarrigle impressed in this one.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 0 - 2 Core Soccer Academy 

Rovers had to try and pick themselves up immediately in a game that would decide the group. More Injuries meant Rovers had only 9 players for this one. Core started well with their Strikers looking sharp but Rovers defended well and they created few chances despite being on top. Shay McLaughlin was winning the midfield battle and came closest to opening the scoring in the first half with a stunning volley that went just wide with the Core Keeper beat.

Core went ahead early in the second half after a long punt forward wasn't dealt with. This lifted Core and with Rovers having further injuries were the more dominant side. Shay McLaughlin and Cody McGarrigle battle hard in midfield but Core got a fine second again from a long ball forward which was well finished by the Core Striker. This result and a last minute winner for Rangers vs Moyola meant the boys finished 3rd in the group which was harsh on them given their performances.

Cody McGarrigle stood out along side a excellent Shay McLaughlin. The boys will reset and go again tomorrow in the Shield Competition

It was a tough day for Letterkenny Crusaders on Day 3 of the Foyle Cup, as they suffered two defeats.
The team went down 2-1 to Castlecaufield FC

Despite the results, the squad gained valuable experience and showed plenty of learning.

Goals on the day came from Anuola Dada, Ryan McLaughlin, and Jamie McConn.

Letterkenny Rovers 2–2 St Oliver Plunketts

Rovers concluded their group stage campaign with a well-earned 2–2 draw against Belfast side St Oliver Plunketts.

The team found themselves 2–0 down early in the first half and faced the added challenge of playing uphill. Goalkeeper Nathan produced an excellent penalty save to keep the deficit at two, and Rovers were rewarded for their persistence when they pulled one back from a corner right on the stroke of half-time.

A much-improved second-half performance saw Rovers take control and push forward in search of an equaliser, but they found it difficult to break down a determined St Oliver Plunketts defence. Their pressure finally paid off with five minutes remaining as they grabbed a deserved equaliser. Rovers continued to press for a winner until the final whistle, but it wasn't to be.

The group stage of the Foyle Cup provided a fantastic learning experience for the squad over the three days. Competing against top-class opposition, the boys gave an excellent account of themselves can be proud of their performances.

U14 COLTS BOYS

Drumkeen FC 1 – 1 Letterkenny Rovers Colts

The Rovers Colts closed out their group campaign with a gritty draw in a game that had everything — possession, pressure, physicality, and pure determination.

Rovers dominated the ball but couldn’t find the breakthrough, with Drumkeen slowing the play and throwing bodies in the way. A sharp counter just before half‑time punished a rare lapse, putting Drumkeen ahead.

The second half was all fight. Rovers came out with purpose, moving the ball quicker and carving out chances. The moment finally came late on: Tiarnan Connolly’s smart flick, Filip Blaszczok’s first‑time strike, and the equaliser the team deserved.

A brilliant group stage from the Colts, with top spot decided only by a coin toss. Winning it, they take their place in the Foyle Cup last 16 with pride.

Outstanding effort from every player. Heart, hunger, and fight from start to finish.

U8 BOYS

Game 1

Maiden City Soccer 1 - 4 Letterkenny Rovers
In the early kick-off the boys started well and controlled the game from early on. After going close a few times, the pressure paid off as Finn Grieve chased down a hopeless ball and forced Maiden into an own goal. They later hit the bar but went in with just the one goal advantage at half-time. After the break Rovers dominated again going very close twice before Heorhii Kukhalashvili was able to finish off a nice bit of teamwork with a well taken goal. Oscar McNulty then pounced on the defence to steal the ball and slot it into the bottom corner for 3-0. Heorhii doubled his tally to make it 4-0 before Maiden City were able to grab a late consolation goal at the death. Cillian Martin was solid and dependable as always, Junior Hyde marshalled with finesse in defence and midfield while Mark "The Wall" Okdeodun put in an incredible display winning 100% of his duels.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 0 - 2 Core Soccer Academy 
Against much fancied opposition Rovers started this game much more tentatively giving the opposition more time and possession than they deserved. They conceded two unfortunate goals in two separate lapses in concentration, handing control of the game over to Core. Rovers scrapped their way back into the game with Finn Grieve covering every blade of grass. After the break Rovers took more control of the game and were looking very comfortable against strong opposition, going close in a few occasions and hitting the post too. The game was very close then until the final whistle with Rovers putting in a second half they should be proud of. The net minders Joe McArt and Adam Keenan were very dependable when called upon and each had a few great saves today to keep momentum on Rovers side.

U9 GIRLS

Game 1

Sion Swift Typhoons 0 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers

A brilliant opening performance from the girls as they secured their first three points of the tournament against a strong Sion side.

They started with real intent, linking up cleverly and keeping the pressure high up the pitch throughout.

Sion were physical and organised, making them difficult to break down, but the girls stayed patient and kept creating chances.

The breakthrough finally came in the second half when Neasa Connolly was fouled in the box, and her sister Cliodhna reacted fastest, pouncing on the loose ball and firing home.

In the final moments, Aurora Bowden produced a superb save from a quick counterattack to make sure the points stayed with Rovers. A tough, determined team display from start to finish.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 6 – 1 Kilmacrennan Celtic

The girls carried their momentum into the second game, taking another well‑earned three points after a confident and composed performance against Kilmacrennan.

They found their rhythm early, moving the ball intelligently, creating chances, and keeping the pressure high up the pitch.

Their teamwork shone throughout, leading to a series of well‑worked goals. Tori Kelly opened the scoring, followed by two hard‑earned finishes from Cliodhna Connolly.

Poppy Oliver added a brilliant brace of her own, and Neasa Connolly capped off the display with a deserved goal after her relentless work all tournament.

A dominant, energetic showing from the whole squad and a great way to finish the morning.

Maghera Strollers 4 - 0 Letterkenny Crusaders

Letterkenny Rovers Crusaders were unfortunately on the wrong side of a 4–0 result in their opening game of the day against Maghera in Templemore.
The match was a much tighter contest than the scoreline suggests, with Letterkenny producing a disciplined first-half display and going into the break trailing by just a single goal. The boys worked hard to stay in the game and remained very much in contention at half-time.
Pushing high in search of a quick equaliser after the restart, Letterkenny left themselves exposed and were punished on the counter as Maghera added further goals. Despite the setback, the effort and attitude of the squad never dropped, with the lads continuing to battle right up until the final whistle.
While the result was disappointing, the commitment and work rate shown throughout the match were a credit to the team.

Game 2

Bushmills Utd 1 - 1 Letterkenny Crusaders

The Crusaders’ persistence was rewarded in their second game of the day as they battled to a deserved 1–1 draw against Bushmills.
Letterkenny started brightly, showing energy and intent all over the pitch from the opening whistle. A special mention goes to Bobby and Sennan, who both put in outstanding shifts in defence and provided the solid foundation the team needed.
After falling 1–0 behind, the lads refused to let their heads drop. Their resilience paid off when a fast counter-attack saw Josh drive forward before delivering an excellent ball across the box for Jay to finish and bring Letterkenny level.
That proved to be the final score, with the team’s determination and collective effort earning a valuable point. Considering the strength of the group they are competing in, the draw felt almost priceless to the players and coaches and was a fantastic reward for the hard work they put in throughout the day.

U10 ROVERS

Game 1

Tummery Athletic 3 - 0 Letterkenny Rovers

Rovers first game of the day was always going to be a tough task against an impressive Tummery team. We defended well with some great saves from Reuben Devlin. The lads never gave up and competed well right until the final whistle.

Game 2

Letterkenny Rovers 3-0 Ballymoor FC

This was an impressive response after their defeat in the first game. The boys were 1 up at HT after Peter Kelly found the back of the net from just inside the box. Rovers showed their maturity by managing the game well at both ends with Oscar Brzdak and Corey Lynch finishing well to see out the game.

U11 ROVERS

Game 1

Letterkenny Rovers 5 - 0 Magherafelt Blues 

A really strong performance by our 2015s against a determined Magherafelt side. Cody McGarrigle finished smartly early after good work from Cillian McCauley and Aidan McCann Rover's took control of the game from then on and created numerous chances to add to the lead with Zac Doherty hitting a post with a fine free kick just before halftime being the closest but they failed to add to their tally. Rovers dominanted the second half. Zac Doherty found the net from another fine free kick and Aidan McCann finished well minutes later . Rovers 4th goal was appauded by both sets of fans when Vlad Peresiechnyl finished off a flowing move involving 7 passes. Shay mcLaughlin smashed home from distance late on to seal the win. Another great team performance from the lads with McLaughlin and McCann standing out as they controlled the game from midfield backed up by a commanding Zac Doherty at the back.

Game 2

Glenavon FC 0 - 4 Letterkenny Rovers 

Rovers started this game as they had finished the first against a strong Glenavon side. Rovers got their passing game going early and it was Cody McGarrigle who started the scoring again with a cracking finish early on. Shay McLaughlin was rampant in midfield and his long range strike rattled the bar minutes later which resulted in a penalty from the rebound Shay stepped up to slide the penalty home. Rovers got another penalty minutes later and this time Zac Doherty smashed it into the net. Rovers piled forward and had several chances before Jake Devlin headed home a fine Zac Doherty corner to make it four nil at the break.
The second half was a more scrappy affair and and although Rovers created a number of chances couldn't add to their tally. David Vorinin and Blake Watson stood out at the back however again the whole team was excellent in this one.
Rovers lead their group with 2 tough games against reigning champions Core and 2024 champions Moyola tomorrow in a really tough group 4 points would see them qualify for the last 16.

U11 CRUSADERS

Game 1

Letterkenny Crusaders 0 - 2 Coleraine FC Olympic

Letterkenny Crusaders produced two encouraging performances on Day 2 of the Foyle Cup despite coming away without a result.
Against Coleraine, Letterkenny started brightly and created several chances in the opening 10 minutes before Coleraine struck just before half-time. A deflected effort doubled the lead in the second half as the game finished 2-0. Goalkeeper Coalan Duddy was named Player of the Match after an excellent display.

Game 2

Letterkenny Crusaders 1 - 2 Tristar FC Colts

In the second game against Tristar, Letterkenny played with great intensity. James Gallagher opened the scoring with a superb strike from outside the box, while Aaron Sibanda impressed breaking up play in midfield and Cian Dillon excelled in defence. Tri Star equalised just before the break, but Letterkenny dominated much of the second half, with Fionn Maguire rattling the crossbar. A late deflected goal proved decisive as Tristar edged the contest 2-1.

Cian Dillon was deservedly named Player of the Match.
While the results didn't go Letterkenny's way, the performances, effort and teamwork throughout the day were hugely encouraging.

Rovers travelled to a breezy Leifear today to take on the reigning D&D Premier League champions and current league leaders, Foyle Harps.

Playing into both the strong wind and against the slope in the first half, Rovers found themselves under pressure against a very strong, organised side. The boys worked hard throughout and did well to limit the deficit to 2–0 by the interval.

After regrouping at half-time, Rovers produced a much-improved second-half performance. They competed well, created chances and were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, with a penalty striking the post.

There were plenty of positives to take from the second-half display, and the boys will look to build on that performance.

A great start to the competition for the under 8 debutants. They controlled much of the game and were solid in defence. A mature performance, they were captained by Finn Grieve who put in a solid shift in midfield as always. Rovers passed well and worked their way into scoring positions quite a few times. Oscar McNulty went close a few times, before Heorhii Kukhalashvili broke the deadlock through grit and determination. He closed down the defence after a short kick-out, stole the ball and slotted it past the keeper. Heorhii doubled the advantage half way through the second half, capitalising on a loose goal kick to lob the keeper from 15 yards.
Rovers closed the game out confidently, breaking down the second balls and passing well. Yaroslav Oliinyk was busy on the wing and Mason Doran and Luca McGee impressed when they came on.

U9 GIRLS

Letterkenny Rovers 0–0 Dungiven Celtic

A strong opening display from the Rovers girls in their first game of the Foyle cup, playing in the brandywell tournament this afternoon.

Rovers controlled large spells of the match, moving the ball with confidence and linking play well through midfield. Their progression up the pitch was excellent, but despite creating promising moments, they couldn’t quite find the finishing touch needed to break down a crowded Dungiven penalty area.

Dungiven posed their biggest threat on the counter, yet the Rovers backline stood firm throughout, reading danger early and shutting down breaks with composure.

A standout moment came from Lyla Gourley, who produced a brilliant goal‑line clearance to keep the scores level.

A disciplined, energetic performance — and a solid start to the tournament.

Rovers Foyle cup journey got off to the perfect start with a great win over a strong Coleraine team. Rovers were 1 down at HT but with some hard work and great football got back into the game with a superb strike from Oscar Brzdak.

Rovers went 2-1 up after a neat finish from Peter Kelly. It was Peter again who rounded off the scoring on the whistle to make the ideal start. Games tomorrow vs Trummery and Ballydor

U11 ROVERS BOYS

Rangers FC Academy 0 - 1 Letterkenny Rovers

Tough first game against Rangers FC at the Rugby grounds in Derry. The boys had a number of players missing and took time to settle into the game. Rangers had the best of the first half and only a superb Hashim Chatha save kept the scores level.

After a reshuffle at halftime Rovers took control of the game in midfield and had a number of chances before Cody McGarrigle was taken down in the box and Zac Doherty made no mistake from the spot . Shay McLaughlin had two strikes from distance and was unlucky not to score before Lopsy Adeyemi's lob went agonisingly wide as Rovers searched for a second.

Despite more pressure late on Rovers has to settle for 1 nil and look forward to 2 more games tomorrow in a very tough group. Aidan McCann, Shay McLaughlin and Zac Doherty stood out in this one but all the lads played their part in a solid performance.

Rovers were unfortunate to suffer defeat in their opening match of the U14 Premier Section at the Foyle Cup, with Inishowen Youth League snatching the winning goal just two minutes from full time.
In a closely contested encounter, there was little to separate the sides throughout. Rovers produced an excellent performance, matching their opponents all over the pitch and creating a number of positive moments, but were left heartbroken by the late winner.
Despite the disappointing result, the team can take plenty of encouragement from their display as they now turn their attention to their second group game.
Rovers are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Leifear to face Foyle Harps, with kick-off at 1:00pm.

U14 COLTS BOYS

Letterkenny Rovers 4 – 0 Foyle Harps Colts

Letterkenny Rovers opened their Foyle Cup campaign in style, securing all three points with a commanding performance from start to finish.

Rovers controlled the game through crisp passing, constant communication and intelligent movement, creating wave after wave of opportunities. The Dungiven keeper was outstanding in the first half, pulling off several top‑class saves to keep his side in contention.

The breakthrough finally came before the interval, with Jack Robb calmly slotting home to give Rovers a deserved lead.

The tempo lifted again in the second half. Jopello Adeyemi doubled the advantage from the penalty spot, before Filip Blaszczok rounded the keeper to make it three. Bailey Doherty added the fourth to seal a comprehensive victory.

A spirited team performance from every player, with contributions all over the pitch.
