Lifetime Achievement Award

Gerry Meehan was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the club’s annual presentation night in the Station House Hotel on Saturday night.

Gerry, who was elected as Honorary Life President at the club’s AGM back in March,  received the award from two of his former team mates Michael Duffy and Paddy ‘Bo’ McDaid.

The affable Gerry was recognised for his unstinting service to the club spanning over 60 years as a player and club administrator having also served as treasurer and secretary.

On the pitch, Gerry was a key member of the Rovers teams to win back to back Donegal League titles in 1981 and 1982 and in the victorious sides that won successive Ulster Junior Cups in 1985 and 1986.

He was leading goalscorer in the Donegal League Premier Division in the 1974/75 season with 31 goals in 18 matches.

Gerry also earned three caps playing for the Republic of Ireland Youths against France, Italy and West Germany at an eight nation international tournament in Monte Carlo in 1973.

In more recent times, Gerry has been an ardent fundraiser for the club selling weekly lottos.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting tribute for all his hard work over the years.

Thank you Gerry.
