Donegal Women's League: Kilmacrennan Celtic 3–0 Letterkenny Rovers
Letterkenny Rovers produced an impressive first-half display before Kilmacrennan Celtic’s strength in the second period earned them a 3–0 victory in the DWL Women’s League.
Rovers started brightly and matched Kilmacrennan throughout the opening half. Aoiblinn McLaughlin was a constant threat on the wing, causing problems with her pace and direct running, while Amy Moore and Ella McCarron came closest to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by an excellent save from Kilmacrennan goalkeeper Cara McGettigan.
In midfield, Aisling McGinley, Erin Doherty and Sophie Canning worked tirelessly, winning possession and keeping Rovers competitive against a strong Kilmacrennan side.
However, the home side gradually took control after the break as Rovers began to tire. Goals from Ciara McGarvey, Geraldine McLaughlin and Muireann Ready secured all three points for Kilmacrennan.
Leanne Gordon, Lucy Canning, Ashling Mugan and Holly Canning all produced vital defensive tackles to keep the scoreline down.
Despite the result, Letterkenny goalkeeper Megan McGinley delivered an outstanding display between the posts, producing a series of fine saves to keep her side in the contest and earning the Player of the Match award.
