A huge milestone for our U9 Foyle Cup girls today as they took part in their first competitive tournament, and what a day it was.
After five strong performances in the group stages, the girls earned their place in the Shield Final and finished as winners. An outstanding achievement and a moment they will remember for a long time.
Every player should be very proud. The team showed great determination, worked hard for every ball, and handled the challenges of the day with real composure.
There were excellent contributions all over the pitch:
• Confident goalkeeping, with important saves, strong kick-outs, and even a goal in the final.
• A well-organised defence that read the game well and stayed disciplined.
• A hardworking midfield that covered ground and supported both attack and defence.
• An effective forward line that took their chances when it mattered.
The teamwork, attitude, and understanding of the game on display were a credit to the group. A brilliant day for the squad and a strong sign of what is ahead.
