U17 FAI Cup
Quigleys Point Swifts 2–4 Letterkenny Rovers
Letterkenny Rovers battled back from behind to secure a hard-fought victory away to Quigleys Point Swifts in the FAI U17 Cup, with Colm Óg Bhreatnach scoring a hat-trick and Josh McHugh adding a late fourth.
Played in blustery conditions, the contest saw Quigleys Point benefit from the wind at their backs in the opening half before Rovers had the breeze in their favour after the break.
The hosts made a bright start and opened the scoring after 15 minutes. Rovers soon found their footing, drawing level in spectacular style when Colm Óg Bhreatnach struck a superb 25-yard lob.
Óg Bhreatnach and Ronan Ward created further chances as Rovers pushed for a second, but Quigleys Point regained the lead following a corner to take a 2–1 advantage into half-time.
Soon after the restart, Colm Óg Bhreatnach brought Rovers level again with a stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner.
Rovers continued to build pressure, and Colm Óg completed his hat-trick with a composed finish inside the box to put the visitors 3–2 ahead.
Josh McHugh added a fourth late on with a well-taken finish, sealing an excellent comeback victory and a place in the next round.
