U12 Crusaders Advance to Division 1 League Cup Final

Our 2015s overcame a strong Lurgy Celtic side in an entertaining match at Lurgy Park. Crusaders started brightly but couldn’t find an early breakthrough, with Lurgy well organised and dangerous on the counter. Zac Doherty went close from a free kick, while Brandon Ndlovu headed narrowly over as the pressure built.

The breakthrough came just before half-time after the introduction of David Vorinin and Cody McGarrigle. Vorinin made a great run down the left and squared for McGarrigle, who showed composure to beat his defender and finish well to give Crusaders the lead at the break.

Crusaders carried that momentum into the second half, with McGarrigle continuing to cause problems. He set up Shay McLaughlin for the second goal following a flowing team move, and McLaughlin added his second shortly after, again assisted by McGarrigle. Brandon Ndlovu then capped off a strong team performance with an impressive 10-minute hat-trick, including an excellent free kick.

The final scoreline didn’t fully reflect Lurgy Celtic’s effort, and we wish them the best for the rest of their season.

Player of the Match: Zac Kelly Doherty for a flawless display in midfield.

Our Under 12 Girls travelled to Ramelton on Tuesday evening to take on Swilly Rovers in a game played in great spirit. Both sides fielded young teams eager to learn and develop their skills.
The opening quarter was an open, end-to-end contest with plenty of excitement. Letterkenny Rovers went into halftime leading 2–1, with both teams showing great attacking intent and some excellent goalkeeping on display.
With a strong wind behind them in the second half, Letterkenny created more chances and added to their lead. Both teams made changes throughout, giving players valuable experience in new positions.
It was an evening where the scoreline mattered less than the opportunity to experiment, learn, and improve. A fantastic effort from both sets of players. Player of the Match was Aida Diver, who capped off a brilliant display with a hat-trick.

Keadue Rovers v Letterkenny Athletic – Cup Quarter-Final

Letterkenny Athletic booked their place in the semi-final after a hard-fought victory away to Keadue Rovers.

Letterkenny started brightly and created early chances through Ryan McLaughlin, putting the home side under pressure from the opening minutes. Their breakthrough came after 15 minutes when Jamie McConn produced excellent work down the right wing before firing a shot that slipped through the goalkeeper to give Letterkenny a 1–0 lead.

The game remained tight throughout, with Letterkenny responding well thanks to a strong work rate led by Ivan Shula and Fionn Maguire on the wings. Cian Dillon also impressed with a solid display at right back.

In the second half, Matthew McDevitt, Anuola Dada, and Aaron Sabanda battled hard in midfield as Letterkenny pushed for control of the game. They created several good chances to put the tie beyond doubt, but the Keadue goalkeeper produced a number of fine saves to keep his side in contention.

At the other end, Letterkenny goalkeeper Coalan Duddy came up big when needed, making two excellent saves from long-range efforts to preserve the lead.

Letterkenny held on for an important away win and now move on to the semi-final.

Player of the Match: Coalan Duddy for a superb performance in goal, including two outstanding second-half saves.

DWL U14 Girls League

Letterkenny Rovers travelled to Cappry last night. Cappry came out on top on the evening, but there were many positives to take from the performance.

Most notably, the first 30 minutes saw the girls work tirelessly in defence, showing great determination to keep Cappry at bay and limit scoring opportunities.

While it was a challenging game for those who travelled, the girls at Leckview Park enjoyed a valuable challenge match against the Rovers U12 squad, ensuring the large U14 panel all got plenty of game time.

Well done to all the players for their effort and commitment 👏

U14 United

Letterkenny United 3–5 Lurgy Celtic

Our first loss of the season came in the League Cup semi-final against a strong, well-organised Lurgy Celtic side. It was a game full of energy, drama, and plenty of attacking football.

United were put under early pressure, and Lurgy Celtic took the lead in the 6th minute from the penalty spot. United responded well and showed great character, hitting back with two quick goals in the 11th and 14th minutes to take a 2–1 lead. Martin Mongan (assist: Max McClafferty) and Nathan Ola (assist: Mohammad Sawafta) both finished confidently to put United in front.

Lurgy Celtic responded strongly, adding three goals before half-time to turn the game around.

HT: Letterkenny United 2–4 Lurgy Celtic

United started the second half brightly and were rewarded in the 39th minute when Riaghan McElwaine produced a superb strike from outside the box, finding the top corner.

Lurgy Celtic added a fifth goal in the 51st minute following a quick counter-attack.

FT: Letterkenny United 3–5 Lurgy Celtic

Player of the Match: Michael Harkin, who delivered a strong defensive performance, played the full game, and showed great determination throughout.

The squad showed excellent spirit and never gave up, creating plenty of chances and staying competitive throughout. There is a lot to build on as the team continues to develop.

Attention now turns back to the league as the group resets and prepares for the next challenge.

DWL U16 Division 1
Donegal Town 3–2 Letterkenny Rovers
Letterkenny Rovers made the journey through the gap to face Donegal Town in their opening game in Division 1.
Rovers started brightly, enjoying plenty of possession with chances for Aisling McGinley, Myrna Guzman, and Hanna Stolarczyk, all narrowly missing the target. Donegal Town took the lead midway through the half when Michaella O’Regan finished well.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Rovers controlling much of the play. Amy Moore, Elle Doherty, and Aoise Diver combined well in midfield as Rovers looked to break down the Town defence. The equaliser came through McGinley from a well-taken free kick. Donegal Town responded soon after through Alanna-Grace Cannon, and later added a third via Roisin Hegarty.
Rovers continued to push forward and were rewarded late on when Hanna Stolarczyk rounded the goalkeeper and finished confidently.
A strong team performance from Rovers, who can take plenty of positives from the game.
