A special event took place at Leckview Park on Sunday 3rd August to honour the memory of the late Patsy Collins, affectionately known within the club as "Big P."
The tribute was a fitting celebration of a true club legend. It was wonderful to see his family in attendance, alongside past and present players, all gathering to commemorate his legacy.

Club Chairman Eamonn McConigley delivered a lovely tribute to Big P, remembering him as a cherished figure whose humour and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on Letterkenny Rovers. McConigley expressed gratitude for Patsy's contributions and shared fond memories of his personality that brought joy and support to everyone around him. He also extended a special mention to Patsy’s brother, James, who traveled all the way from Australia to be part of the occasion. Patsy's sister addressed the crowd, expressing her thanks to the club for organising the event and reminisced about Patsy's Sunday morning rituals as he prepared for match days, particularly his pride during the trip to the Aviva and his deep love for Letterkenny Rovers.
The event also saw players from the 2005 and 2009 Ulster Senior League-winning squads, along with the 2016 FAI Intermediate Cup team, return to the pitch. As they competed, the passion and camaraderie of those golden years came alive again, as if no time had passed.
The match was an exciting and closely contested affair, with a penalty goal ultimately deciding the outcome.
Importantly, the event also served a meaningful cause, raising funds for the Donegal Hospice.
